This would make for a much interesting fairy tale, don't you think? Grimm got it all wrong. There was not enough yarn in Grimm's. I've rectified that with some "Spellbound" yarn. It won't put you to sleep or turn you into a monster, but it will keep you warm and cozy and give you something to do if you do happen to find yourself stuck in an abandoned castle under a spell.

Visit product page →Note from Sundara...It's been years since I last read Jane Eyre, but I wanted to do a sort of "English castle covered in ivy in the fog" sort of color and when I saw this, all I could thing about was Jane and Rochester and his crazy wife haunting the attic of Thornfield Hall. Or at least I think that's how the story goes. I remember it being all very romantic back when I was sixteen.
The color, like the castle, is all lovely english ivy green with bits of grey, both dark and light, stone and fog, peeking through. But unlike the actual Thornfield Hall, this will keep you warm and safe and there won't be any crazy wife locked up in the attic.

Visit product page →Note from Sundara...Since I was in college, my little town has had an annual Lavender Festival. Now, you might think this is no big deal, but let me tell you. It's HUGE. People come from all over. The lavender farms gear up for months. Traffic backs up for miles and miles. And us locals? We don't leave our house for like a week because of the tourists and the lines and the traffic. Total nightmare. We can't even go to the grocery store.
But even though I don't leave the house for a week and I sort of hate the festival because it really is a pain, it really is pretty and I sort of love it, too. It's really something to live somewhere when, before that week, you're just driving into town to get milk and fields of lavender are just there. Right by the side of the road. Like you are in the south of France or something. So this is my ode to our little festival and all that pretty lavender and the fields of we are blessed with.

Visit product page →Note from Sundara...Originally, I dyed this color up because I thought it would look phenomenal paired with some deep poppy red or maybe a garnet or deep pink to knit Joji's "Pure Joy" shawl. Which I was contemplating knitting because it's a classic that everybody should knit at some point.
But then, looking through Joji's patterns, I thought how very spectacular this color would also look as Joji's "Imagine When." Which, yes, a lot of you have probably knit in the Imagine color, but it would be equally lovely in this color. All the deep teal-blue-greens. The subtle mix would suit that shawl and this yarn is perfect for all that garter.
You'll need 2 skeins for "Imagine When" and 1 skein plus 1 skein of another color (from your stash!!) for "Pure Joy."

But they are super cute and I pretty much can't say no to them, so I let them pick out the inspiration photo. I also had them help me decide what hue I'd use for the first layer of color. Because we are educational here at Sundara Yarn. Then they got bored and wandered off.
But they did say they would be very sad if nobody bought their yarn. So hopefully at least a few of will like this enough to get a skein or two. It will make their day. And you don't want to see their disappointed faces. It's heartbreaking.

Visit product page →Note from Sundara...Around this time of year, when the weather is hot and the sun shines all day long, I forget about all the usual grey clouds and rain we get for the other 9 months of the year and start to think I could maybe grow all those tropical flowers I fantasize about. Like bougainvillea. It's my favorite. It seems totally possible that I could have myself a white stucco house with excessive plumes of pink blossoms taking over my patio where I sip iced beverages and look out over the sea. It could totally happen.
Except October would hit and the rains would come and all that pretty bougainvillea would die a sad, painful death. Alas, the Pacific Northwest is no place for tropical flowers. So I will stick to excessively pink yarn. This one is all sorts of bougainvillea pink. Not too bright, though, and, for reasons I'm not quite sure of but am totally happy about, there are a bit of sprinkles here and there. You can knit it now or stash it for a little pick me up when the weather turns cold.

All that dark almost black that leans somehow both blue and purple at the same time, along with the highlights that are somehow the color of a caribbean sea but subdued by all that darkness. It's magnificent.
I did my best with the yarn. I think I came pretty close. It's fingering silky merino, so it's got that subtle shimmering shine inherent to flower petals. And soft. It's oh so soft. What more could you ask for?

Visit product page →Note from Sundara...You gotta love this forest teal-green. It's using my new and improved dye methods, so the color is thoroughly saturated throughout the skein and the strands of the skein. Which you all seem to be loving, so I'll keep dyeing these kinds of colors for you.
You can do pretty much whatever you want with yarn dyed this way. It's as versatile as it comes, especially in fingering merino. And this color is one of those that works for almost everyone, too. And, now that I'm thinking about it, it's pretty much a four-season color. You could wear it year round and it would go with just about anything. It's like a non-neutral neutral. Can't beat that.

The dark bits are really more of a dark, deep, rich forest evergreen color and the parts of the skeins you can't see have a lot of medium to medium-dark and a few bits and bobs of light bits. So this color isn't quite as dark as it might appear. But only a tad not as dark. It's super, super pretty and pretty much a dream for any green and teal lover. Just one batch available.
